Part of the confusion is due to the formats

Until the ebook reader formats shake down into something more universally accepted, the reason why you might have uploaded your well-written text and images into one program, only to see the chapters, pictures and graphics go awry is because there are so many formats and the various ereaders read in different “languages.”

A selection of the more well-known are .epub, .pdf, .mobi, .asw and .lrf. So, if your reader is a Kindle, Nook or Sony, or you’re waiting  for the coming iPad, you’ll need a specific format for each reader. If this is all Greek to you, seek out a professional to help you through the rough spots.
